I.Q. Icelandic Queer Film Festival will take place for the first time at Bíó Paradís 4th to 7th of September.
During the festival queer voices and stories will be given a platform, to reflect the wide spectrum of queer experiences, and to shed light on the challenges, victories, and joys of queerness.
The production of queer film content has never been greater or more diverse, but unfortunately, much of it does not make it into general screenings. Most people access this content online, watching alone at home or in small groups.
There is great power in experiencing the realities and stories of cinema together in a movie theater — a space for ideas, reflections, joy, and sorrow.
Film as a medium is unique in its ability to tell stories and provide insight into people’s lives, their struggles and triumphs, in a heartfelt, human, and truthful way. The stories we see become a part of us, can help us understand — both ourselves and others — and shape our view of society.
The festival’s program will be a mix of documentaries, feature films, and short films — both new and classic.
The festival is a passion project, and much work has gone into creating as diverse a program as possible.
